Heavy Duty Tracks

Strength, durability, and low cost of concrete structures can be achieved with SFRC. These structures are constructed without the use of conventional reinforcing steel bars. SFRC is ultra high-strength concrete with unique properties including high flexural and shear strength. It is also strong in compression, durable and has high impact resistance. Structures can be either precast or poured in place.

A key feature of SFRC is the increased flexural strength with the use of lab-configured steel fibers that provide effective bonding. This high bond strength results in micro stitching of small cracks thus significantly limiting crack propagation under loading compared to conventional Reinforced Concrete with solid reinforcing bars.

Overlays

There are two types of overlays which are used either to increase the load capacity of existing structure or for improving the surface finish, rehabilitation, or resistance to abrasion. To place an overlay over an existing slab which is structurally quite sound, leveled, and clean or undamaged, a bonded overlay is recommended. If there is a particularly significant increase in carrying of slab load capacity, an unbonded overlay is recommended.

Bridges

SFRC represents a technological breakthrough by offering a characteristic compressive strength. SFRC materials are characterized by a highly compact cementitious matrix, the absence of capillary pores, and the mandatory use of fiber reinforcement in the constructive applications to ensure non-brittleness failure. This technology allows designers to build structural elements without passive reinforcements and to combine lightness and extreme durability in innovative solutions, as already evident from the first SFRC bridges. Light weight decks made of SFRC in composite bridges are an alternative to conventional steel orthotropic decks, which are known to suffer fatigue degradation, and can extend the range of applications of steel-concrete composite bridges which nowadays are effectively used for bridge span between 50m and 100m. Moreover, the benefits include reduced erection costs, reduced construction time, and resource savings. In comparison with classical steel-concrete composite decks, the SFRC solution is very efficient due to the high compression strength and low creep coefficient.
